UAE clinch Gulf Cup title

smail Matar notched home in the second-half to lead UAE to their first ever Gulf Cup triumph following a 1-0 victory over Oman in the competition's final on Tuesday.

UAE and Oman failed to create any scoring opportunities in the first-half, unlike the second-period which witnessed many threats from both sides.

Saied Beshir almost put UAE ahead four minutes after the break but his powerful header was denied by the post.

Oman responded three minutes past the hour mark when Fawzi Beshir's close-range shot was brilliantly blocked by the keeper.

UAE star Matar scored the winner in the 72nd minute when he latched-on to a long ball inside the area before hitting a right-footed drive into the right bottom corner of the net.
